The global push to eliminate plastic resin loss is gaining real momentum, with the latest report from Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) highlighting measurable progress across the plastics value chain. The 2025 Global Impact Report shows that more than 6,000 companies in 65 countries are now participating in this industry-led initiative, reflecting a growing commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
Jointly led by the Plastics Industry Association and the American Chemistry Council, OCS continues to expand its reach and influence. The program is not only reducing pellet, flake and powder loss, but also embedding best-practice management systems supported by data reporting and independent verification. Importantly, the logistics sector has emerged as a key driver of growth, underscoring that preventing resin loss is a whole-of-supply-chain responsibility. With more than 300 external inspections conducted globally and tens of thousands of workers trained, OCS is translating ambition into action. The report reinforces a clear message: coordinated, industry-wide collaboration is essential to achieving zero resin loss—and that goal is increasingly within reach.

Closer to home, Operation Clean Sweep Australia has received funding to support roll-out of the OCS program in South Australia, building on the success of the program in Victoria and New South Wales. The program is free to join and provides participants with useful resources to support the elimination of microplastic loss to the environment.
